The FAIR!!

Friday was the first day of the North Carolina State Fair, so of course we had to go! What better time than the first day! We got there at around 9:30 a.m. and stayed until 2:00 p.m.!! It was a long day, but we had loads of fun. First we sought out the animals. We visited the cows, pigs, sheep, rabbits and (of course), poultry. We saw many chickens and turkeys. There were an especially large number of bantam chickens, which both kids loved. Then we checked out a few exhibits and hit the RIDES! Delaney rode about 5 or 6 rides and Colin rode two. We even rode one as a family! Some where along the way we picked some yummy “fair food” lunch and a frozen banana. We also discovered a new Indian booth who makes and sells a local Indian curry called Kerala Curry. This stuff is DELICIOUS! We actually bought a couple of cans and had some for dinner tonight.

But onto the fun part! Our fair experience, in photos and videos.

On the way (this photo was just too cute to pass up!)

Our first ride - the swings

Colin’s first ride: the bouncy caterpillar

Colin, Delaney and Mommy on the train. Colin wanted to jump out of this one - he was so excited to see daddy on the side lines taking his photo!

Delaney’s first ROLLER COASTER! She thought everything that went fast and whipped us around was grand and kept asking to go again.
Getting ready:

We are smack in the middle of this photo:

We’re hard to see. I should have let her sit on the outside!
Delaney and I few in a bee!

And lastly, we only had three tickets left, so Delaney got to ride one ride on her own. Here she is driving her truck (with a passenger!)

We were all exhausted after this long excursion, but we had so much fun! I can’t wait until next year - maybe we could get by without even taking a stroller! This year we broke down and took the double jogger. I think we’ve only folded that monstrosity up two other times, and both times we were kicking ourselves! Chris ended up wearing Colin for the last hour or so anyway, and Delaney prefered to walk. But it was nice to have to schlep around all our stuff, including the fruits and veggies I packed for lunch - as great as the fair is, it just doesn’t provide anyone with a square meal.

Oh, Delaney was also sucked into the money-sucking game pit. She won herself a pair of fuzzy purple dice fishing for sharks. The most expensive pair of fuzzy, Chinese-made dice she will ever have!
