Recent conversations

Last night Chris and I were discussing Colin’s previous night - he had (finally) fallen asleep at 11:45 and slept without waking until 3:48 a.m:

Chris: “Last night wasn’t so bad.”

Me: “How long did it take you to get him to fall asleep?”

Chris: “Almost two hours.”

Me: “[groan]”

Chris: “But he slept for 4 hours without waking up.”

Me: “FOUR HOURS! That’s awesome!”

Sad when you get so excited that your 19 month old sleeps one four hour stretch without waking up…

Overheard conversation -

Delaney: “I have to love my dog.”

Zoey: …[groan] she’s coming over here again…

Delaney: “Hold me, Zoey”

Zoey: …get off me kid! I don’t want to hold you…

Delaney: “I just love my dog.”

Zoey: …maybe if I put up with this for five more minutes they’ll take me for a walk later…

A conversation between Delaney and Colin:

Delaney: “Lalalalalalalaleleleldadadadumdumdumdum” (at full volume)

Colin: “Lalalalalalalaleleleldadadadumdumdumdum” (at full volume)

Colin is in the I-do-everything-you-do-phase.

A follow-up conversation between Delaney and Zoey:

Delaney: “Hi Zoey!”

Zoey: …kid, I told you, I don’t want to talk to you. I’m outta here…

[Zoey exits stage right]

Delaney: [running behind Zoey] “Zoey pet, pet pet pet, I want to pet you Zoey!”

 Overheard - a conversation between Chris & himself

Chris: CRAP.  Damn.

Me: What’s wrong?

[pause]

Chris: This is huge.  How am I going to do this?

Me:  What happened?

[pause] [thump thump thump]

Chris: Shit!

Me: WHAT HAPPENED??!!

[thump thump bang]

Chris: I need to figure this out…

Me:  WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED??!!

Chris: NOTHING!

[pause pause] [zzzssszzz (of the drill)] [bang thump] [zzzssszzz] [pause] [zzzssszz]

Chris: Excellent.

Chris: This looks great!  Cool.

Chris: WoooooT!

Colin: Wooooo….

Talk about stress!  First he’s cussing and banging and yelling.  Then he’s singing and praising.  Oh, and don’t forget the yelling at me in the middle of it all…  MEN!
