Running Late

We’re going to be late today. Delaney is supposed to be at preschool at 9:00, and it’s almost 8 already - no one is dressed, Colin is still sleeping, and we haven’t eaten breakfast. I know, I know…you’re thinking, “If you are late, why are you blogging?” Well, we’re already going to be late, a few more minutes won’t hurt.

The thing is - late BOTHERS me!  I don’t like to be late.  I can’t stand it when other people are late - especially when that makes me later!  I like to be there when I’m expected, and I expect people when they say they will be here.  I am not just a patient person.  Plus, I think it is an issue of respect - when you say you are going to be somewhere, BE THERE!  At least have that much respect for me.

But we’re still going to be late today…

I hate being late as well. So much so that I tell my partner that we are expected somewhere 15 mins before we actaully are.

My husband always refers to “Lombardi Time” (”Lombardi time” is the principle that a person show up 15 minutes early or else be considered late.) So he gets to work about 20 minutes early everyday and gets really grumpy if we’re ‘on time’ to appointments and parties etc. For me… being ‘on time’ is arriving about five minutes late. :)
