I love hanging out with my kids

(most of the time)

Today we hung out at home in the morning, as is usual for Monday.  Just the kids and me, playing and singing and dancing (and working…me, at least).  We played with play doh for a good 45 minutes or so - a favorite activity around here.  We watched some Signing Time.  We played with our castle.

At noon we finally took off our pajamas and got dressed for the day.  Then we went to lunch, just the three of us.

I was talking to a friend with two children about the same age as Colin and Delaney recently, and she was lamenting about how challenging it is to take two kids to a restaurant on one’s own.  She said, “I’d never do this if we weren’t meeting.”  I thought, “WHY NOT??”  I love taking my kids to restaurants.  Yeah, they run around like crazy kids; sure, they don’t follow behind me like little ducklings; yes, I do walk over to the drink counter and leave them in my eye-shot while filling our cups.  But overall, we have a good time.  Delaney really enjoys going to restaurants, and Colin almost always eats better when we are in a restaurant than at home (wish I could say the same for Delaney!).

I have some pics…they are coming.

I can’t wait to be as excited as you are about going out with two young children…right now all I can handle is grocery shopping. We do go wash and vacuum the car all the time but that doesn’t require me getting them out of the car and the vacuum puts Analise to sleep. I know, I know, I am a pillar of bravery.

sounds like a fun day and that castle looks cool. :) i tend not to go out much myself, but my kids always surprise me when i do. i think i worry about how it will go a lot more than i need to.

I love hanging out with Abby! She’s my favorite ‘date’. Sharing breakfast, getting coffee, meeting friends for lunch, even just listening to music and dancing and laying around and hanging out. I hope that as she gets older we continue to be good friends. :)
