A million little pieces
This has been the week from HELL! I’ve been singing Elvis Costello for days now! Colin is feeling much better, thank you for asking. We’ve taken off all the bandages and finally today he’s not pushing away from us every time we try to pick him up due to pain. I still think his muscles are a little sore, and I suspect they will be for a while. He is still having trouble bending over and getting up off the floor, but he’s managing - he’s lifting from his legs more and not his back - good boy! His little belly button is normal again - but I’m not happy about that. He used to have this little nub - a little outie; it was a very unusual belly button. But since the pushed that protruding bit of fat back under the muscle, his belly button is just a normal innie. His incisions are healing nicely.

Colin has had a run of bad luck lately. He’s fallen on his knees no less than 4 times in the past three days. To say his knees are skinned would be an understatement! I put big waterproof bandages on them yesterday which protected them from the last two falls. We think that he’s not lifting his legs and walking well post-surgery. Poor dude! His knees were bleeding so badly yesterday that blood was running down his leg.

Delaney said to me yesterday, “Mommy, you sit your big bum here. You have a big bum, Mommy.” Yes darling, thank you - I really need to hear about how large my bum is from my daughter!

Delaney hasn’t napped in days. I believe her last nap was last Tuesday. She is being a terror! The terrible THREES - no one remembers to tell you that three is harder than two! Well, I’m hear to tell you - THREE IS HARDER THAN TWO! Chris and I are ready to bury her in the sandbox up to her neck!

We’ve had so much rain! It’s excellent! I haven’t had to water my garden in weeks. We’re getting perfect garden watering rain. Good soaking rains (sometimes even *too* soaking!) often enough to keep everything wet. My blueberry bushes are looking excellent! I think we will have some blueberries as early as June. Our pea plants have peas on them already, and both the tomatoes and peppers have flowered. Very exciting!

We haven’t gotten the bill for Colin’s surgery yet. Maybe it will get lost in the mail. OOOH - no - imagine this: the hospital has a computer breakdown exactly when our bill is being reviewed, and the ENTIRE BILL IS LOST! Yes, that will be perfect! I’m not looking forward to receiving the quadruple-digit bill.

We’re thinking of purchasing a hybrid vehicle. Since moving isn’t in the near future and gas is almost $4/gallon, something has to give. A new grocery store has opened only a few miles from home, but biking around these rural, narrow, curvy streets is next to a death sentence, so we drive EVERYWHERE! We’re considering knocking Delaney’s preschool week from three days to two to save on gas driving to and from preschool and to lessen the tuition cost. It’s still under consideration.

My husband has suffered a nervous eclipse. He’s not quite used to full-on family and kids for days on end. It’s been four weeks that he’s been out of work, and the strain of having two children hanging on him day in and day out is starting to show.

That’s it for now. My brain has spewed all the goodness it will give me for the moment. Plus, I have some green blog entries to work on for work. Give me some help - what’s your favorite, most obscure green tip. I’ll write about it!

Poor Colin, he is having a bad run, isn’t he. Hopefully it stops when he heals completely.
No naps? I would be burying her too.
I am very jealous of the rain. It is nearly winter here and we still haven’t had any rain to speak of. We even need to buy water again.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve mentioned that Hannah was harder at 3 than at 2… Four and five have been good though
Elijah turns 3 next month, and he’s already a terror. Oh and naps are almost a thing of the past at our house. Even Leah only took one nap (45 min or so) today.
My gas tank is nearing E and I shudder to think of the cost… I keep hoping gas will go down, lol.

((((((Huggs))))) - if you can even take them - lol
If it helps - I’m dealing with a 2 and a 3 - not sure what’s worst!!! lol
I always said that the T (for toddlers) on clothing really meant “terror”
Mom, make sure to “bargain” and/or make a payment plan for your hospital bill! Even if you can pay more per month or at once - it may not be a bad idea to settle for smaller payments, and if comes around you can pay more, great!
