Wanna know what Chris and I did last night?

We read books in our own bed with the light on before going to sleep.

Last night was the first night in over 3 1/2 years that Chris and I slept alone. Totally, completely alone. No one in our bed; no one in our room. Alone alone alone. Last night was the first night in 3 1/2 years that we were able to turn lights on in our room after dark. Last night was the first time that we could make as much noise as we wanted brushing our teeth and flushing our toilet without worrying about waking someone up. Wow.
On the eve of his second birthday, Colin moved into his own room. His bed also moved into his own room, so there is no going back! He did quite well - better than expected. He took a while to fall asleep, but once asleep he woke on his normal “schedule,” so we can’t expect much more than that!

Wow, congrats! I still hesitate to flush or turn on the water to brush my teeth. I’ve perfected the dance of rinsing my mouth and the brush with water from a cup so I never have to turn on the sink. It’s eco-friendly and keeps baby asleep. Can Colin please come teach L how to sleep on his own? I can’t imagine what it woud be like to be in bed with my husband and just fall asleep next to each other…it’s been so many years!

Sleep alone? What’s that like? I used to know. Congratulations! Boolie still sleeps with us at almost 3, and I confess to keeping her awake too late by watching hockey playoffs or reading in bed.
