Happy Birthday (to him)!!
Today is Chris’ birthday. He’s 40. Is that old? I don’t think so, and neither do the kids. So the consensus in this house is “NO.” Anyway, happy birthday honey! I can’t wait to give you your gift. I’m tempted to blog about it, but I don’t want to ruin the surprise!

Totally changing the subject, it’s smoky and yucky here! There are some huge wildfires burning east of the Triangle, and the smoke has filtered all the way to hour area! It’s hazy out - you can really see the smoke lingering in the air - and it smells smoky and ashy. I suspect it will only get thicker and I’ll be able to take some photos, but right now I don’t think a photo would capture the haze. I’m getting a bit of a headache already. The children are playing outside right now; as it gets worse, I don’t want them outside in it for longer periods of time. Yick! We are all going to smell like smoke!

I can smell the smoke here. I didn’t know that was what it was. I was up all night checking my house thinking it was on fire.

Happy birthday and Father’s Day to Chris. Do you have ash falling like snow flurries, too? Because we always get that here when there are wildfires. They keep the kids inside at school, too, because the air is so choky.
