Little Fisher-girl

A couple of weeks ago Delaney took her first fishing-on-her-own trip with Daddy. Fishing is hard work! You have to be still and quiet and PATIENT! It was a tad too much for a wee girl to handle, but she did like baiting the line and casting.

Spending time with Daddy was very special, though, even if he didn’t make any fish jump onto the hook.

Colin and I hung around the docks, doing our part to scare away all the fish. He did a great job at runing around, pounding the deck, and calling the fishies! In exhausting all my efforts to keep him still, quiet and away from Delaney, I allowed him to take some photos with the camera. This next shot is a “Colin’s-eye” view of the pond from the docks.

Overall we had a nice time. Chris ended up catching one fish - a little palm-sized bream, which pleased the kids. I think we were more disappointed at Delaney not catching any fish than she was - we really wanted to make her first fishing-on-her-own experience a special one.

Delaney has fished before…sort of. She was a bit more patient back then - at least as long as Daddy was singing and bouncing to her specifications.

This photo was taken in May, 2005 when she was 6 months old.

I remember fishing when I was about 4… it didn’t take long to get boring, and I couldn’t figure out why the other guy on the dock was mad at me for running around, yelling, and throwing rocks in the water :)
